Full-time position available with the City of KCMOís Office of the City Manager. Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Responsible for medical and administrative reviews with regards to the application of pre-hospital medical emergency protocols by pre-hospital emergency medical personnel. Reviews medical care, procedures and practices of all city-credentialed out-of-hospital providers, including Paramedics, Emergency Medical Technicians, and Emergency Medical Dispatchers. Performs random ePCR and field audits as directed by the EMS Medical Director. Receives and responds to complaints in order to assess the quality and consistency of service delivery. Makes recommendations for corrective measures in writing and/or through informal discussions with the EMS Medical Director. Works alongside the Patient Safety System and Patient Safety Organization. Reviews EMS dispatch procedures and emergency vehicle response times for compliance with the KCMO Ambulance Ordinance. Reviews service delivery, procedures and practices of Base Station Physicians using quality assurance audits. Manages patient outcomes information and databases. Verifies Emergency Medical Service personnel credentials as current and maintained. Inspects ambulances to assure all medical equipment is operational and complete, medications are current and stored properly, safety systems and equipment are in place and functional and external emergency lights and sirens are functioning properly. Prepares and provides training to EMS personnel, using both classroom and didactic methods. Prepares and provides ongoing call review to EMS personnel. Assists in administering regional and local tests as needed. Develops, conducts and publishes independent research. Attends meetings and/or represents the Office of the EMS Medical Director as directed. REQUIRES high school graduation, current paramedic or nursing license with 2 years of field and/or clinical experience. Preferences given to candidates with at least 5 years of pre-hospital experience (ground or flight-based); an accredited Masterís degree in public health or public administration; experience in developing, conducting and publishing research products; knowledge of quality assurance/continuous quality improvement programs; experience in database management (SQL or other database management and Microsoft Office); the National Registry of EMT-P and current Missouri Paramedic License; and, if not current, ability to become licensed in the State of Missouri. The EMT will work closely with our summer camp medical staff (seven nurses and affiliated pediatrician) to ensure the safety of our camper and staff population of 800 people. A portion of the job will be spent assisting in our modern Camp Medical Center for 6-7 hours a day and being "on call" for injuries around the camp. Great environment for self-motivated, calm individual with at least 3 years EMT experience.
