National Registry announces article series celebrating EMS personnel across the nation

Columbus, Ohio – The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians is proud to announce the awarding of its first-ever 50 Years of National Registry certificate to Bill Wood, a New Hampshire paramedic/firefighter. The award also kicks off an article series highlighting Nationally Registered personnel across the nation.

Bill Wood took the first Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course and examination offered in 1970. He then took and passed the first certification examination for the National Registry and has maintained his certification for 50 consecutive years.

“This is a remarkable achievement, and we commend Mr. Wood for his commitment to EMS and his community,” said Bill Seifarth, CEO and Executive Director of the National Registry. “This also is a historic moment for the National Registry. Just shortly after celebrating our 50th anniversary, we can now celebrate those who led the way with National Certification five decades ago.”

“Being certified by the National Registry gives me a sense of belonging,” Wood said. “Everyone is a part of the same team, we’re all proficient in our respected EMS levels, and this is our opportunity to stay informed, educate ourselves, and give back to the community.”

Bill Wood featured first in an upcoming article series

The National Registry's emerging article series will highlight Bill Wood and several other Nationally Registered personnel across the nation, from departments large and small, including the military."
