Training Officers

IMPORTANT NOTICE: On September 8, 2017, we launched Recert 2.0, the largest update ever of the NREMT’s recertification system. We're currently working to update our Training Officer specific training videos and user guides.

We've added many new features exclusively for Training Officers including an enhanced Training Officer Dashboard, an enhanced agency roster, the ability to easily copy a class (for example that CPR class offered every month), and the ability to assign NREMT recertification topics for multiple levels in one class!

The Role of a NREMT Training Officer

Training Officers validate the continued competency of Nationally Registered EMS personnel by approving continuing education records entered by agency affiliates. In some agencies, Training Officers enter course records on behalf of affiliated personnel. The role of Training Officer is to be treated responsibly, with attentiveness given to all affiliates seeking NREMT recertification.

Create a NREMT account

Before a Training Officer can request the Training Officer role, they must have a NREMT account. If you already have a NREMT account, do not create a new account. See the section below "Add the Training Officer Role to my NREMT Account" for detailed instructions.

Follow the steps below to create a NREMT account:

  • From the homepage select Create An Account
  • Choose a user name and password (both are case sensitive)
  • Enter your LEGAL name. (If you need to change your name in the future, you will be required to provide legal evidence of a name change.)
  • Enter YOUR email address, YOUR phone number, and YOUR address.

How do I add the Training Officer role to my NREMT account?

If you are currently certified as a National EMS Provider, follow the process below to add additional user roles (Training Officer, Medical Director) to your account :

Step 1

Login to your NREMT User Account.

Step 2

Click on your profile badge icon on the homepage.

Select Badge

Click on Add A User Role

Select the Training Officer role you want to request.

Affiliate as a Training Officer at an existing agency

Step 1: Log In

Login to your account. Note: You must have the 'Training Officer' role activated on your NREMT account. If you do not already have this role, or you do not have an NREMT account, see the How To Guides listed above.

Step 2: Affiliate With An Agency

If you are changing the Training Officer or adding a Training Officer:

  • Login with your user name and password.
  • On the left side of the screen, under "My Current Role", select Training Officer.
  • Scroll down and click on Affiliate with Agency.
  • Choose your state from the drop-down menu and click Next.
  • Choose your agency from the drop down list.
  • Click Submit.

Step 3: Agency Approval

The agency's current Training Officer on file must approve your Training Officer affiliation/role request. If the Training Officer currently listed for the agency is no longer with the agency, the agency's Director/Chief must send an email to ednet@nremt.org authorizing you to be added as the Training Officer. Please allow 7 business days for change request to be approved.

Approve a new Training Officer or Medical Director
  1. The NEW Training Officer or Medical Director should affiliate with the agency (see steps above)
  2. Then, the existing Training Officer will login to their NREMT account and select the Training Officer role
  3. From the side menu, select Pending Affiliation Requests
  4. Find the name(s) of the NEW Training Officer(s) or Medical Director to add select Approve
  5. Click Apply
Remove a Training Officer or Medical Director

Option 1

If your agency has one or more affiliated Training Officers with a current user role, the Training Officer has the ability to remove other Training Officers.

  1. Login to your NREMT account and select your Training Officer role
  2. From the side menu, select Roster
  3. Change the Select Filter to "Show All"
  4. Find the name(s) of the Training Officer(s) or Medical Director(s) to remove and place a check in the Remove Affiliation box
  5. Click Apply

Option 2

If you agency no longer has a Training Officer with access to your agency's account:

  • The agency's Director/Chief/Supervisor must send an email to ednet@nremt.org authorizing you to be added as the Training Officer.
  • Please allow seven business days for change request to be approved.
  • If you need additional assistance, you can contact the EdNet Specialist at directly by calling 614-888-4484, extension 192.

After your request to be affiliated as a Training Officer has been approved, if applicable, you may follow the instructions detailed above to remove a Training Officer.

Create an agency for on-line NREMT recertification

Step 1: Log In To Your Training Officer Account

You must have the Training Officer role activated on your account. If you do not have a NREMT account, you must create one. Those steps are also listed above.

Step 2: Create An Agency

If you are changing the Training Officer or adding a Training Officer:

  • Login with your user name and password.
  • Under "My Current Role", select "Training Officer".
  • Scroll down and click on “Affiliate with Agency”.
  • Choose your state from the drop-down menu and click “Next”.
  • Verify that your agency is not listed in the next drop-down menu.
  • Select "Create a New Agency."
  • Complete the Agency Request Form.
  • Read the attestation form before clicking "Submit."
  • Click Apply
  • Allow at least five business for processing and approval.
Approve Recertification Applications As A Training Officer

Step 1: Log In To Your Training Officer Account

You must have the Training Officer role activated on your account. If you do not have a NREMT account, you must create one. Those steps are also listed above.

  • Login with your user name and password.
  • Under "My Current Role", select "Training Officer".

Step 2: Approve Recertification Packets

  • Select Pending Recertification Packets
  • Under "My Current Role", select "Training Officer".
  • Select the Recertification Packets you want to approve.
  • Read the attestation statement and click Apply
Who approves the continuing education of Training Officers?
Training Officers may not approve their own continuing education. The continuing education of Training Officers must be approved by another Training Officer at their agency. If there is only one Training Officer, it is recommended that the agency's Medical Director add the Training Officer role to their NREMT account in order to approve the continuing education of the Training Officer. The steps to add an additional Training Officer to your agency are listed above under the "Add the Training Officer User Role to my NREMT Account".
