The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians is excited to share enhancements to the candidate application process — making it simpler, clearer, and faster for candidates, Program Directors, and State Officials.
These changes are based on real feedback and designed to improve the experience across all roles.

What's New
Candidates 
We’ve made applying for certification easier to understand and complete.
- Start with Create New Application from your dashboard
- Choose your application:
- Initial, Re-entry, State License, or Proficiency Evaluation (formerly Assessment)
- Select your level: EMR, EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic
- Interactive dashboard shows what you need to complete
- Education uploads (CE and Remedial) are now done inside the application
- Transcript view helps manage and assign education to the application
- Authorization to Test (ATT) is issued digitally
- Easily schedule with Pearson VUE via single sign-on through the National Registry website
- No delays for rescheduling subsequent attempts. You may schedule immediately (15 days between attempts still required, though)
Program Directors
The updated Manage Students page puts all essential actions in one place:
- Combines Course Completion, Practical Skills Verification, and Roster Review
- New visual indicators show status at a glance
- Bulk actions available for BLS verifications
- Note: Some verifications must still be handled individually
- View basic student payment status
- Changes are saved only after selecting Review Changes and Submit
- BLS candidates remain on your list until all verifications are complete
State Officials 
We’ve redesigned the State Official Dashboard for a smoother experience:
- New Registrant Search replaces outdated tools
- Search by name, EMS ID, SSN, or National Registry Number
- Results are printable and show more context if candidate is in-state
- Bulk tools to verify Skills Competency
- Filter by time, program, or level
- Take action on multiple candidates at once
- Streamlined Proficiency Evaluation approvals
- Approve or reject in bulk with easy filtering and review
- Outdated pages (Check Provider Status and Direct Bill Pay) have been removed for clarity
